LONGNOSE SUCKER (Catostomus catostomus)

  • no adipose fin present
  • ventral protrusible mouth, opening downwards
  • snout pointed when viewed from the side

Other notable comments and clues:

  • The most distinguishing feature of the juvenile longnose sucker is the ventral protrusible mouth that opens downwards.
  • The mouth can make a sucking noise when taken out of water!
