Other notable
comments and clues:
- The most distinguishing feature of the juvenile
pygmy whitefish is
they do not lose their “false” parr marks at 100mm
in length, however these “false” parr my be very faint.
- Body torpedo-shaped and quite round in cross-section.
- Can be very easily mistaken or confused with juvenile
round whitefish.
- Sizes of 100-120mm are considered adults (not
very big fish as adults).
- Separate from round whitefish by eye diameter
is greater than >30% of the head length (bigger looking eye)
and head length greater than >16% of the total length (bigger
looking head). Snout broadly rounded as seen from above.
