  • the length of the base of the dorsal fin is greater than the length of the base of the anal fin
  • back of anal fin vertical (straight up and down)
  • no spots on dorsal fin
  • deeply forked tail
  • colouration includes light coloured spots on darker side of fish (light spots on dark background, NOT dark spots on light background)

  • The most distinguishing feature of the lake trout is its deeply forked tail and its mottled marks.
  • Lake trout are only found in lakes throughout the Yukon
